- Philips head #2 screwdriver
- Small flat head screwdriver
- Long, thin tongs
- Hammer or mallet
- A roll of paper towel
- Several clean cotton rags
Soldering iron, solder, and flux
Wire cutters
Electrical tape
3M Finesse It II polish (or similar polish)
- At least two cans of compressed air (designed for dusting computers and other electronics)
- Lacquer thinner (Only if your guitar is finished in Nitro Lacquer. This won't work on Polyurethane finishes like those found on Fender® non-Custom Shop guitars.) Don't confuse this with denatured alcohol, paint thinner, or other similar solvents--it has to be Lacquer Thinner.
- Wet/dry sandpaper 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500, and 2000 grit (I use 3M brand)
- Nitrocellulose Lacquer gloss clear coat (available from Bill at Guitar Reranch in aerosol cans)
- Nitrocellulose Lacquer amber tinted gloss clear coat (available from Bill at Guitar Reranch in aerosol cans)
- Small, clear plastic bowls such as Glad, Hefty, etc. available at any grocery store.
- Small can of dark oil-based wood stain (preferably Dark Walnut, Rosewood, or Ebony)
- Electric power drill w/ 6" soft buffer pad attachment or similar
- Scofield Systems™: LITHOCHROME® Chemstain™ Classic CS-16 Faded Terracotta acid concrete stain. (Trust me, it HAS to be that exact brand and color. I bought a whole lot of kinds that didn't work.) At $65/bottle it's not cheap though.
- Muriatic or Hydrochloric acid (You can find this at a swimming pool supply store.)
- Shell/cartridge tumbler (used for ammunition reloading and can be found at gun stores)
